Established in 2001 - I began breeding Maltese for the love of the breed. My dogs were purchased directly from Nell Boykin, Owner of Bluefields Kennel in Wilson, NC - Nell bred Maltese for over 20 years therefore, reaching the ultimate goal of breeding healthy Maltese and the quality that AKC recognizes. Our dogs are provided with individual dog-runs and doggy doors that allow them to go in or out freely. They can choose to stay inside where it's heated, air conditioned and air purified or sit outside in the fresh air.
Our expecting mothers stay in our home two weeks prior to whelping and once the puppies are born they all stay in our home until they are at the weaning stage. The weaning stage has several stages to it and I start by introducing dry puppy food that has been moistened and they attempt to eat it as they are ready. I place a piddle pad in their living area to get them used to going on the pad rather than just anywhere. Close to 8 weeks of age I place them in the kennel in a run with the mom and she shows them how to go in and out of the doggy door where they learn to go potty outside. This way they are one step closer to being potty trained. I gradually pull the mom out each day making sure they are not dependent of her or her milk and she begins to dry up. We have daily interaction and activities with the puppies during this time as I work to wean them away from their mom. After the pups have had their 8 week vaccination I begin to socialize them with some of our other Maltese.
My Maltese are AKC Registered and my goal is to always breed towards achieving AKC Maltese standards. My puppies typically range in weight as an adult between 4 lbs to 6.5 lbs. I provide a one year health guarantee, up to date vaccinations and deworming and a puppy package usually containing a bag of Puppy food, treats, chews, comb, whitening shampoo, and a puppy blanket. All of my puppies are sold with a limited registration. I do not ship my puppies. AKC papers are released with proof that the puppy has been spayed or neutered. Puppies are adopted at 12 weeks of age depending on each individual puppy.
